On May 23, 2025 the Ambassador of the UAE to the Republic of Belarus H.E. Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh paid a visit to Belarusian State Technological University. The distinguished guest was received by BSTU Rector Ihar Voitau who was joined by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Andrei Hauryliuk, Vice-Rector for Research Viachaslau Fleisher, Director of the Institute of Professional Development and Retraining Nikolai Gundilovich, Head of International Cooperation Office Olga Rogova, Head of Double-Degree Programs and International Students Office Elena Yanukovich and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Management, Business Technology and Sustainable Development Bahed Haider Aziz Bahed.

The meeting focused on training of engineering professionals for the United Arab Emirates. Ihar Voitau expressed an interest in organizing joint training in the field of design, construction and operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The BSTU Rector highlighted that the University has extensive experience of training drone operators – more than 1,000 UAV operators have been trained.
H.E. Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh was given a detailed overview of new study programs, i.e. “Design and Technology of Unmanned Aerial Systems” and “Chemical Technology of High-Energy Materials and Products”. The first enrollment of students will be held in summer 2025.
In the course of the talks the parties identified the following promising areas of cooperation:
- To organize training and professional development courses for UAE citizens based on customer feedback.
- To explore the feasibility of double-degree programs to be jointly run by BSTU and UAE universities.
- To search for prospective industrial partners from the UAE to do research and innovation projects at the BSTU Tech Park
The BSTU Rector pointed out that the University was highly interested in cooperating with Emirati universities in the field of high technology. He also extended to H.E. Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh?a cordial invitation to attend the 95th Anniversary events to be held in November 2025 as well as to join science and technology conferences planned for the coming autumn.
The Ambassador of the UAE emphasized the Belarusian-Emirati cooperation was of mutually rewarding character. The established partnerships make it possible to exchange best practices, organize student and staff exchange, create joint ventures and many more. Currently the UAE have been actively investing in high technology, i.e., artificial intelligence, digital technology, unmanned aerial vehicles. At the end of the meeting H.E. Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh offered his kind assistance in building sustainable partnerships between BSTU and the UAE universities of matching profile.
